Domain Buying Tips — Part 1

In web hosting trend, domain is a key role playing for your success. You can register a domain name for very cheap around $7.5/yr these days. And this month 1 & 1 hosting provider is giving domains for just $6.99 + a free privacy registration.

But the domain you selecting must interact with the internet world.

Domain Extension tips

Considering domain extension I suggest,

  1. .com (good for all)
  2. .org (rememberable )
  3. .net (not bad but OK)
  4. .info (I don like it and also it is said that not performing well in SEO)
  5. and whatever (Finally your choice, dont worry — for good site domain name is not problem)

Domain Keyword selection

Next to domain extension selection, we need to select domain name. First identify your theme. For example take “hotel reviews”. It is good to have hotelreviews.com but the internet world is matured so you cant get easily since most of the good domain name are already registered. so try some other extension. For very competive key phrase it is not possible to get exactly. So add some more words like -> the, site,z.…

  • thehotelreviewsite.com
  • thehotelreviewz.com
  • and many until you get

Dont go too many keywords. Keep it simple and short.

Grab the fancy domain

More than that, most of the fancy domains are acquired by some domain sellers to sell it for higher price. So you have following choices,

  • Contact website owner and ask for buying ( Pay $$)
  • Even try expired domains list with your keywords (pool.com, freshdrop.net, dropday.com etc.. pay $)
  • Also use some  domain selling sites -> godaddy auction, sedo auction etc … (Pay $$$$…)
